Roger Frisch
(Artist-in-Residence, violin)
NWC 1996

Mr. Frisch is associate concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra, of which he has been a member for twenty-three years. His violin studies include the noted teachers Henry Meyer of the LaSalle Quartet and the renowned pedagogue, Josef Gingold. He has been prize winner of both the Hermann Violin Competition and the Coleman International Chamber Music Competition. He was a founding member of the Minneapolis Artists Ensemble and can be heard on its critically-acclaimed recording of the Hummel Piano Quintet. As soloist, Mr. Frisch has performed with conductors Sir Neville Marriner, Leonard Slatkin, and Stanislaw Skrowaczewski. Mr. Frisch made his Carnegie Hall debut as soloist with orchestra. He is also an active soloist and chamber musician. His violin, dated 1772, was made in Mantua, Italy by Thomas Balestrieri.
