Welcome new Music Department Chair, Dr. Jeremy Kolwinska!


I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Jeremy Kolwinska as the new chair of the Music Department as I approach my retirement at the end of this academic year. With a national search completed, Dr. Kolwinska accepted the position and will be officially joining the department on July 31st. It is very satisfying to know that God has provided a vibrant, energetic, and experienced leader to head up the Music Department.

Music at Northwestern College is much more than just the numerous ensembles that are available to all students, the highly skilled and passionate teachers and conductors, the high level of musicianship and skill of the students, the fabulous student recitals performed each week, the annual state, region, and international tours, or the annual Christmas at Northwestern Concert that is attended by thousands and broadcast across the upper Midwest. Music at Northwestern is also about students becoming lifelong learners who are accomplished musicians, all for the Glory of God. Here at Northwestern, an attitude of worship defines every class, lesson, rehearsal, and activity.

Northwestern prepares music majors to be dedicated and accomplished in the music field of their choice, whether it be teaching, conducting, composing, performing, or in other related careers. If you desire to pursue a music major, please read the information posted under Music Major Auditions.

If you would like to take part in music at Northwestern, we offer eight major ensembles and numerous chamber ensembles where you can exercise your love of music and experience a new depth to your musicianship and technical skills. Non-music majors may also take private lessons on a wide variety of instruments from one of our skilled faculty members.
