Mr. L. John Buyse
Trustee

L. John Buyse has ties to Northwestern College that date back to his mother, who graduated from the Bible school in the early 1920s. His wife's parents were also graduates and his mother-in-law, Hyacinth Look, was Dr. Riley's personal secretary for many years.

Mr. Buyse is now retired after operating his own business, McLean Midwest, for over 15 years. He started the company in 1975, designing, manufacturing and marketing closed loop-type heat exchangers and air conditioners used for cooling electronics packaged in electronic cabinets. He sold the business in 1991.

Mr. Buyse attended Wheaton College in Illinois, and has served on the boards of Africa Inland Mission (his parents were missionaries with AIM for 40 years), Global Outreach Mission, and Lighthouse for Christ Eye Center and Mission in Mombasa, Kenya.

Mr. Buyse and his wife, Marjorie, met at Wheaton. Her father, Dr. O. A. Look, was pastor of First Baptist Church in Anoka, Minn., for 30 years. Mr. and Mrs. Buyse have five children, all married and walking with Christ; there are 17 grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He enjoys gardening, fishing, water sports and traveling.

Mr. Buyse has served on the Northwestern College Board of Trustees since 1988, serving on the radio, finance, development and long-range planning committees.
