Scholarships
I am interested in a music scholarship.
Who is eligible for a Music Scholarship?
Music scholarships are available to all Northwestern students, whether or not you are a music major. Awards are based on merit via an audition process as described below.
What types of scholarships are available?
Awards range from $500 to $4000 per year with the potential for annual renewal.
There are two types of awards:
Scholarship Awards which require recipients to be music majors
Participation Awards which are for students in majors other than music
How do I apply for a music scholarship?
Students wishing to be considered for either type of award must perform an audition. Scholarship auditions will be held on February 20 and 21, 2009 on the Northwestern College campus. Scholarship auditions are by invitation only and you must apply via the preliminary screening process indicated below.

Scholarship Audition Preliminary Screening Guidelines
Each student wishing to be considered for a music scholarship must:
1. Submit an audio recording (cassette or CD) of a performance from the repertoire listed on the Audition Repertoire for your particular instrument or voice. (See question immediately below.) You may audition in more than one area, for example, piano and voice. Please submit a separate recording for each audition and label it clearly with your name and instrument (or voice part).
2. Submit two references from your music teachers or other professionals that address your musical skills, work ethic, and performing potential. Your teachers must send all reference forms directly to the Music Department. Download form: Reference Form
3. Submit the Music Experience Survey.

4. Submit a one-page personal essay detailing your musical goals and ambitions.
5. If you want to be a Music Major, you must also submit an Audition Application.

6. The Music Scholarship application deadline is January 16, 2009. All materials must be postmarked by this date.
