How to Apply

How do I apply for Financial Aid?

1. The first step in applying for financial aid is to make sure that you have started the admission process for Northwestern College. Financial Aid is not awarded until you have been admitted to Northwestern.

2. The financial aid process begins when you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In two to three weeks after submitting the FAFSA, you should receive the Student Aid Report (SAR) indicating your eligibility for financial aid.

3. In addition to the FAFSA you need to complete one of the applications below.

Continuing Education Financial Aid Application (2008-2009)

Your financial aid file is complete when our office has received the following items:

- Notification from the Center for Distance Education that you have been admitted to the college and are pursuing a certificate or degree.

- The results of your FAFSA-received electronically.

- Your completed Continuing Education Financial Aid Application.

If you are selected for verification by the federal government, a Verification Worksheet is sent to you. Once you have a complete financial aid file, the Financial Aid Office will evaluate your application and determine the financial aid you will receive. Along with your official award letter you will receive instructions on how to obtain the student loans you are eligible to borrow for the school year.
