Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS)

The Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) offers a specialized study in theological beliefs, practices, and principles of the evangelical faith. Since the founding of Northwestern College in 1902 by William Bell Riley, this institution has served Christ in the training up of young men and women who share the same dreams of furthering the kingdom of God. The Master of Arts in Theological Studies was developed upon these unchanging principles and is committed to helping Christians achieve a quality education while maintaining the independent and interdenominational nature that has made Northwestern College a strong and developed institution.

Concentrated Studies

When students apply for the MATS degree, they must designate their area of concentration. Students may choose from four specific areas: Apologetics, Bible Exposition, Biblical Studies, and Theology. In choosing a concentration, students should consider their interests and ministerial goals, whether lay, professional, or academic.
