Piano Institute 2008
 
 
 

Objective

The goal of the Piano Institute is to provide a concentrated week of stimulating musical activities which will motivate and encourage students in their piano studies.

General Information

Who May Study
The Institute is open to serious piano students age 12-18 (intermediate to advanced levels). Students will be grouped according to age and ability.

Taped Audition
Please submit an audio recording (cassette or CD) of at least one piece from current repertoire.

Activities
  • Daily Lessons
  • Ensemble experience
  • Classes: Music Appreciation, Music Theory, Piano Literature, Performance, and Improvisation

Recitals
The Friday Ensemble Recital features duets and trios learned during the Institute. Students must prepare a memorized piece prior to the Institute and will perform that piece at the Saturday Solo Recital.

Food
  • Students may bring a sack lunch
  • Lunch is available in Cafe Naz
Lodging (age 14 and older only)
  • Available in Northwestern College dormitory, Sunday - Friday nights
  • Dorms are equippped with A/C and a private bath
  • Planned evening activities and swimming are available to students.
  • Adult supervision
  • Dorm rooms are equipped with a stove, microwave and refrigerator for breakfast and evening meals.
