All PSEO Applications for Spring 2008 must be postmarked by Friday, December 7, 2007.

The Postsecondary Enrollment Options is a state program for juniors and seniors in public or non-public high school or home school program that gives you an opportunity to complete your high school requirements by taking non-sectarian courses at a participating college or university. (Taken from the Minnesota Children Families and Learning PSEO brochure)

Students may participate in the Northwestern College PSEO program through the Center for Distance Education. This program has helped thousands of students get a jump start on college careers while earning high school credit. It allows them to apply college credits to their high school diplomas. Distance Education allows students the flexibility of scheduling study times around their other activities. Taking courses through the Center for Distance Education is the only way to participate in Northwestern College's PSEO program at this time.

As a PSEO student, you not only receive college credit, but high school credit at the same time. Plus, the tuition, books, and registrations fees are paid for by the State of Minnesota.

Steps to Enrollment

Students can take advantage of the tuition benefit by enrolling in these courses for the fall and spring semesters. You must apply for each semester.

The requirements for missionary students have changed. Students must physically reside in the state of Minnesota and may not do PSEO from overseas.

  • Applications for the Spring 2008 semester must be postmarked by December 7, 2007. Apply early for the upcoming semester to avoid the state's deadline.
  • Print and complete the Northwestern College Student Information Form for PSEO and the State Notice of Registration form. At this time, you cannot register for PSEO courses online.
  • Attention home schoolers: Please be sure to complete Part 2 of the State Notice of Student Registration form. We still need the name, type and number of your school district, as well as a signature of the "Secondary School Contact Person" (aka, your parents).
  • Submit a copy of your standardized test scores (10th grade state, PLAN, PSAT, ACT, SAT, or Accuplacer) to the Center for Distance Education.
  • Submit an official high school transcript to the Center for Distance Education

We will email you to confirm your registration. Your course materials will be shipped before the start of the semester. Please contact us with any questions.

If you want to take PSEO courses during the summer semester, or you want to take non-PSEO courses (such as Bible) anytime, register for our NextStep program! You can still earn both high school and college credit, but the State of Minnesota does not fund the NextStep program.
