Master’s Roleder Sisters Roll over Palm Beach Atlantic in Five Games
ST. PAUL, Minn. (Nov. 30, 2007) – Kills were a plenty in a five-game match featuring #7 Palm Beach Atlantic University and #3 The Master’s College at the National Christian College Athletic Association’s (NCCAA) National Volleyball Tournament. Amanda Roleder and sister Rachael Roleder were The Master’s firepower, as the Mustangs won the fifth and final game to give TMC the win (27-30, 30-27, 30-26, 26-30, 15-10).
Amanda Roleder had 29 kills in the match, while sister Rachel followed right behind with 27. TMC held a mere two-kill advantage (75-73) over the Sailfish.
Palm Beach Atlantic countered with four players who tallied double-digit kills, including 19 by Brittany Erickson, but it was the Master’s who edged the Sailfish in hitting percentage, making up for the minimal difference in the contest. PBA tallied an impressive 16 blocks in the matinee affair, seven of which came by the hands of Bia Santos.
Christy Swagerty had 43 assists in the Mustang’s 6-2 offense, while Leslie Windham had a whopping 47 digs in the five-game set.
Joining Ericksen on the offensive front for PBA was Santos, who had 18 kills of her own. Ali Mitchell also contributed 15 kills. The Sailfish’s Emily Ryerson tallied 58 assists in the match.
Both TMC and PBA evened their tournament records at 1-1 after the match and have yet another contest to play in the evening. Palm Beach Atlantic faces off against #2 Bethel at 6 p.m., while The Master’s takes on #6 Cedarville at the same time.
