Sydney Extension Itinerary
Northwestern College Sydney Extension
May 31, 2008 - June 3, 2008
Saturday, May 31
We leave the rest of the band and depart for Sydney mid-morning. A guide will meet us and help us to check into the Park Regis City Centre Hotel. That evening, we will have the opportunity explore Sydney on our own.
Sunday, June 1
This morning we depart for our Sights of Sydney and the Famous Beaches. Driving through the city centre, we will see many contrasts, from the traditional Victorian architecture of the Town Hall and the Queen Victoria Building (worth an interior visit on your own) to the modern skyscrapers of the business district; from the sweeping design of the Opera House to the modern developments of Darling Harbour. Drive throug the Botanic Garden to Lady Macquarie's chair (for views of the harbour and the Opera House and bridge) and then head out to the exclusive eastern suburbs, passing Kings Cross en route to Vaucluse and Double Bay. Continue to the Heads, famous Bondi Beach and historic Paddington with its iron railed town houses, arriving at Circular Quay Wharf. We will have some free time for lunch at Circular Quay Wharf before taking a 60 minute tour of the Sydney Opera House Tour. On our tour, we will have the opportunity to experience the Sydney Opera House in its daily operation. We will be guided through theaters and be given a fascinating account of the history and architecture of the House. Our evening will once again allow us time to explore on our own.
Monday, June 2
Another free day in Sydney allows us to visit any number of famous sights. We will once again stay overnight in Sydney at the Park Regis City Centre Hostel.
Tuesday, June 3
We will depart Sydney in the early afternoon and gain back a day, arriving back at Minneapolis at 11:00 p.m.
