H1N1 Novel Influenza Update
In order to assist us in managing the impact of H1N1 on our campus, NWC is requesting all students experiencing flu-like symptoms to complete the Influenza/Flu Self-Report.
Like many colleges and universities across the country, Northwestern College has been developing plans to respond to the likely appearance of the 2009 H1N1 Infulenza virus on our campus this fall and winter. Since the emergence of the virus last spring, Northwestern College Emergency Response Team, together with members from Northwestern College health services, have been monitoring the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), and developing our response protocol and communication plans. The H1N1 link on the left of this page has been created to share this information with the Northwestern College Community. Although we can't eliminate the spread of the H1N1 virus, working together we can significantly minimize its reach and overall impact.

To see a registered nurse, no appointment is necessary. We operate on a walk-in, first-come-first-served basis.
The physician is here each Monday from 8–10 a.m. and requires an appointment which must be made in advance.
Our physician's assistant (PA) is here each Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. Appointments are also required for the PA.
Emergencies
For all campus medical emergencies, dial 911 (some campus phones require dialing a 9 first). Then, contact Public Safety at 651-631-5310 (x5310 on campus).
After Hours Non-Emergency
When Health Services is closed, basic first-aid supplies and thermometers are available in the residences and may be obtained by contacting an RA or the Resident Director on duty.*
Serious illnesses or injuries must be immediately reported to the Resident Director on duty. As needed, the Resident Director will assist the student in contacting appropriate family members and/or medical personnel, coordinating transportation to the healthcare facility, etc. If transportation to a healthcare facility is needed and the situation is not life-threatening, the student is primarily responsible to arrange his/her own transportation.
* Contact the on duty Resident Director by calling the Robertson Student Center desk, 651-631-5307 or the Arden Hall Receptionist, 651-259-2140.
