Dr. Robert L. Pickering

Dr. Robert Pickering's first career was in higher education as a teacher, coach, dean and administrator. His second career was as a licensed psychologist. Currently he is a consultant for organizations, individuals and families.

He received his baccalaureate and master's degrees from the University of Minnesota ('53 and '54), his doctorate from Columbia University ('60), and completed post-doctoral studies at the University of Michigan ('61). He served in the military from 1954-56 as a counterintelligence officer.

In 1992, Dr. and Mrs. Pickering donated a year of Christian service in Kapaa, Kauai. He has been active in several professional, religious, community, educational and health associations, and continues in business in Phoenix, Ariz., with his family.

Dr. Pickering and his wife, Marlys, are close to their four sons and daughters-in-law and nine grandchildren.

He was elected to the Northwestern College Board of Trustees in 2000.
