Hartill and Knutson halls provide a practical and unique college living environment. The two halls are joined with the Robertson Student Center in the middle. Each room in Hartill/Knutson is equipped with personal bathroom, kitchenette, and air conditioning/heat units. Each room houses three students. All rooms provide each resident with a bed, extra-long mattress, dresser, desk and desk chair. Each room in Hartill/Knutson houses either 3 or 4 students.

Both Hartill and Knutson have three floors. The first and second floors of Knutson are exclusively male, while the first and second floors of Hartill are exclusively female. The third floor, which spreads across both buildings, is labeled KnuHa and exclusively female.

Combined, these buildings are the largest of all residence halls at Northwestern College and provide many opportunities for community and spiritual growth through the high amount of resources available in fellow students. Hartill and Knutson, along with Moyer, are right on the campus of Northwestern, thus being the most conveniently located residences.
