Ministry in a Diverse World: DOSS Week 2009

The Disabilities Office for Support Services at Northwestern is hosting the 11th annual Disabilities Awareness Week October 5-9 on campus. This year's theme Ministry in a Diverse World features guest speakers Jordana and Gene Engebretsen of Cristo Vive International. Cristo Vive International provides camps for children with disabilities and their families.
The Engebretsens will speak at chapel on Tuesday, Oct. 6 and Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 10:30 a.m.in Maranatha Hall. They will also speak in a variety of classes as well as answer questions at a dessert Q & A on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 12:30-1:30 p.m.in the Youderian Lounge.
The third annual Friend of ADA Award will be presented on Thursday, Oct. 8 at a volunteer recognition chapel. The award, given through the Center of Academic Programs for Support Services (CAPSS), honors an individual who exemplifies the qualities of a friend of the American Disabilities Act and shows commitment to those students with ADA needs across campus.
On Friday, Oct. 9, the movie Darius Goes West will be shown at the Robertson Student Center at 8:00 p.m. Darius is a high school graduate who took a trip across the Western United States to raise awareness and funds for research for a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
