KTIS Announcers Receive ‘Air Personality of the Year’ Award
David Christian and Pam Lundell of the 98.5 KTIS (St. Paul/Minneapolis) morning show have been recognized by the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) and honored with the 2010 NRB Media Award for Air Personality of the Year (Music Format). The award is presented each year to announcers who are compelling, relevant, informative, personable and entertaining, while demonstrating an authentic Christian faith in their on-air announcing. “We are blessed to have two Twin Cities’ radio veterans spearheading our morning show,” said KTIS Program Director Jason Sharp. “David and Pam have been working together for two years and I am thrilled with how they connect to the audience each day.” As a team, Christian and Lundell are a powerful force in media, bringing many years of radio, TV and voiceover experience to KTIS. When it comes to “Mornings with David & Pam,” they live by the rule of making relevant news and topics interesting to the KTIS audience. “This is really about our listeners—our show is just a conversation we are having with them as we do life together,” said Christian. Lundell added, “They [the audience] are the stars of the show!” Presentation of the award took place at NRB’s 67th Annual Convention, in Nashville, Tenn., on February 27. WVOE-FM Awarded 2010 Radio Station of the Year
For the second year in a row, Northwestern College student radio station WVOE97.7 FM received the 2010 Intercollegiate National Religious Broadcasters (iNRB) Media Award for iNRB Radio Station of the Year. In addition, Northwestern Electronic Media Communication students took home 24 iNRB awards, including eight 1st Place awards and the $2,500 Bob Dobbs Scholarship. “Our students consistently pursue their craft with excellence,” said Mark Seignious, associate professor of communication and WVOE advisor. “But for them it’s about more than just excellence or doing good productions. They set out to be faithful and bring glory to God. We are thrilled for the students. We share in their joy and God gets the glory.” Awards are presented to undergraduate students for outstanding examples of audio, video and Web productions. Northwestern students have a history of exceptional work in broadcasting and in the last two years have taken home close to half the awards at the iNRB Association Award Ceremony. WVOE staff members have covered events such as Gospel Music Week in Nashville, Tenn., and the GMA Dove Awards. They have also joined KTIS-FM to help at training seminars for radio stations in Belize. Many participating WVOE students have gone on to secure jobs and internships in major media outlets in the Twin Cities such as KSTP-AM/FM, KFAN, Fox Sports Net, KOOL 108 and other markets across the country. |
